Cherish Life. stainless steel, mild steel and cast bronze, 2016. The title coming from a poem by Ellen Hoida who responded to a request for poetry or text to be part of the sculpture. This Acorn stands close to a mature Oak on the main road into Thirsk at the newly forming Sowerby Gateway which is being build by Mulberry. Poets: James Jones, Julie Bushell, Steve Toase and Ellen Hoida pictured. Artwork, cast into bronze, on the back of the leaf, masquerading as Leaf Galls, were made by members of Clock Youth Group, St Oswald's Youth Group and Thirsk School.
