A commemorative portrait of the first woman labour MP in Nottinghamshire was commissioned by Gedling Borough Council to be sited in a small public garden in Carlton. Councillor Roxanne Ellis championed the commission and design work was done with academic assistance from writer Val Wood. The portrait was made in stainless steel and cast iron, and was 'opened' by Vernon Coker MP
